    Returned

Ordered based on quality looking photo and being 1/3 the price of moog and returned when I received. The boot was not a snug fit around base and felt of thin material

    Pros: Bargain price

    Cons: Extremely cheap boot

    Poor Quality

I bought a pair of these ball joints about five years ago and since day one they squeaked but never had issues with alignment or wheel play. Took it in for a wheel alignment and I was told that ball joints were worn and alignment could not be performed. Took it home and performed my own inspection and one of them was bad and the other was showing signs of being worn as well. I expected these ball joints to last longer than that. As I researched these ball joints, which I suggest people should do, I found out that many of these parts are of poor quality, not the fault of AutoZone.

    Pros: Inexpensive

    Cons: Does not last long

squeak free and steering!! no more wanderlust

replacement press-in joint for the riveted original. the original is staked in with a seemingly monstrous press. you have to chisel or grind off a 2 inch diameter circle of 1/8 inch circular profile steel. that is a BEAR of a job. you then press or pound out the pressed in original (you have to shave off ALL of that staking, so budget plenty of time). the steering knuckle is aluminum, the stud is hardened steel, and convincing the stud to let go (even with pickle forks, pry bars, colorful language, and liberal application of the hammer) can be torturous, especially if the joint has squeaked and hammered for a while. i actually coaxed the "bad one" to let go by heating the knuckle boss with a lighter (then driving in the pickle fork, and levering while my pal gave the end of the stud a vigorous massage with a 3 lb drilling hammer), seriously. new one gets pressed in (take off the boot!! use a QUALITY press, the new joint body has shallow splines that bed into the eye in the riveted in "flag", so it's a HIGH effort draw), and a snap ring replaces the oem staking as a positive retainer. final result? 2 arm-weary, happy guys, and a truck that actually obeys steering input (which had previously seemed to be interpreted as a polite suggestion), all while eliminating that characteristic squeak when ever you rolled over a gum wrapper, tossed a bottle of water in the cab, or turned the wheel, and the new joint is greaseable, so will stay that way for quite a while. use a grinder if you have one, if not, make sure you have a helper, and a fresh, sharp cold chisel (you WILL need it, trust me). have a GENTLE heat source (greasy aluminum is a fuel, it will burn if heated too hot), and budget a whole afternoon of undisturbed wrenching and pounding. well worth the effort for the awesome results!! thanks valucraft and autozone, a high quality bargain is a rarity

Pros: low priced, high quality, lifetime warrantee, fairly straightforward installation, greaseable

Cons: if using to replace oem part lots of elbow grease involved
