    In a pinch

I have replaced several of these on my 2002 Silverado 1500 4x4. Keep in mind that I have a 4" lift and larger than stock tires. The bearings are pretty easy to swap out but they are not dependable. The photo shows where the weak link is. I strongly recommend that you buy the Moog bearings. They have a 3 year warranty and have proven themselves time and again. Another great brand is a Timken, however I was told today that Autozone will be discontinuing the Timken line.
If you buy the Duralast bearings I have a bit of advice that helps extend the life. As you know it is a sealed bearing with no grease fittings. What I have done in the past is to remove the wheel speed sensor wire where it goes into the bearing and squirt grease down into the bearing. Just slowly rotate the hub as you do this and it will fill the hub back up with grease. I think what causes these to go bad so quick is that the small amount of grease is insufficient to keep the bearings cool and as you know friction creates heat and in this situation the heat burns up all the grease and your running dry. If you look closely at the picture you can see it's bone dry.

In a pinch these bearings will do but I do not recommend them.

    Pros: Generally easy to install

Cons: Only one year warranty. After that be ready to re-install.

    Disappointment

I needed to replace the passenger side during summer of 2014. As a precautionary measure, I replaced the driver's side in the fall of 2014 with this same part number. Five months later, the driver's side failed very suddenly (less than 1 mile between the first noise and total failure). When it failed, the inner bearing cage came out and shredded the boot for the CV joint, so the repair also included the time and expense of replacing the axle as well.

Now I'm wondering if I should also replace the passenger side before we get stranded again.

    Cons: Does not last.

    Complete Junk

I bought this hub assembly in September 2014. Its now April 2015 and the hub is shot. The original bearings lasted 12 years, these only lasted 6 months. Complete waste of time putting them on. Do yourself a favor and spend a little extra money on the Timken with the 3 year warranty.

    Cons: durability

    Quality parts for the money

1 of 1 people found this helpful

As another reviewer, I buy all of my parts from Autozone to do my vehicle repairs, and maintenance. I had to change the driver side hub assembly on my 2006 GMC Z71 a year ago. It was an easy job, and the sale associate even advised about needing the larger socket. No issues with the hub, and now have to change the passenger side. Will use the same item this time, since last unit was a success.

    Pros: Easy install

Duralast Wheel Bearing/Hub Assembly (front ) should be re-branded to "Doesn'tLast"

A part of this nature should in theory last for 7-10 years, but there is a reason Auto Zone only warrants this assembly for 1 year--it simply is not designed to last. I assume they are manufactured with low-grade parts because I purchased this unit for my 2002 GMC Yukon just under 2 years ago and had to replace again it last weekend. I do not tow with my Yukon nor undertake stressful driving conditions and I take care of my vehicles with routine maintenance, so I would have expected the part to last at least as long as the original OEM part did, but no such luck. Four hours of labor including 2 hours just trying to get this rusted piece of junk out of my hub knuckle. Truly poor manufacturing. Get your part from another manufacturer (Timkin or the dealer) for $75 more if you want a quality part that lasts.

    Pros: Good fit

    Cons: Poor quality, doesn't last
