The CURT class 3 trailer hitch is the most common type of trailer hitch installed on full-size pickup trucks and SUVs. It is also found on full-size cars, crossover SUVs, minivans and mid-size trucks. That is because the class 3 packs the punch of a heavyweight hitch while still staying light on its feet. This CURT class 3 hitch offers a gross trailer weight capacity of 5,000 lbs. and a comparable tongue weight capacity of 500 lbs. It is designed to be a custom-fit trailer hitch for certain years of the Toyota 4runner or Lexus GX 470.     This item is a great fit for the 2006 Toyota 4Runner SR5. The only negative thing is that it blocks the factory trailer connection and since you have to move the connection it adds to your expense. The factory bracket can be mounted to the left side of this hitch with a couple nut/bolts after drilling 2 1/4" holes in the end plate of hitch. This will result in you having to find a way to "extend" the wiring so it can connect to a trailer. If your able to find the correct wiring harness for the vehicle you might be able to drill holes for a mounting bracket into the tube of the hitch and closer to ball. This is my plan but has not come to be yet. I loved installing this hitch, it was EASY, except for the muffler side. This is really no fault of the hitch. You definitely want to slide the muffler hanger rod out of the rubber "bumper". The instructions provide some idea how to do this but I gave up on that, sprayed it will silicone and use a tiny crowbar and screwdriver to push rubber to rear of vehicle while pushing rod toward front of vehicle. (don't worry, it goes on easier than coming off). While spraying silicone, go ahead and spray all screw holes (vehicle frame) will the silicone just to help.

    At no fault of the hitch, the two large weld nuts on the muffler side of the frame was stripped before I even attempted the install. (I test all nuts / bolts before picking the hitch up! I used a M12 - 1.25 tap. I was soooo scared because I never used one. I thought I would have to use larger NEW bolts. I was sooo wrong. This tap rethreaded the weld nuts and the bolts went in without any issue. Using the tap was so easy, I will NEVER attempt to thread a stripped nut/bolt again in my life! If you have to buy the tap, you don't need to buy sets as they are expensive, just buy what you need. You will not need a T handle for this tap, but you will need a ratchet, socket and extension set which you should already have to install hitch. BTW, you may consider using a smaller hole on the wiring mount and use a tap for the factory screws you removed, you will need to size them appropriately.
