      About

      2005 Ford F150 Alternator

A functional alternator for a 2005 Ford F150 helps to ensure the electrical system of the F150 stays up and running by powering and recycling energy to the battery. While the battery is relied on to start the car, once the car gets rolling, a car relies on the alternator for additional current. The alternator is made up of many moving parts. When your engine is running the drive belt connects to the alternator. The alternator then produces alternating current, which is then converted into direct current for the vehicle.

If you’ve ever noticed your headlights, dash lights, speedometer, or other essential gauges begin to falter, that may be a clear indication it’s time to replace your alternator. When your alternator begins to fail or improperly transform mechanical energy into electrical energy, anything from your powered windows, to windshield wipers, to equipment programming and accessories could fail. Not having an appropriately operational alternator could be a safety risk for both the driver and other vehicles on the road.

It is important to ensure the correct maintenance and care is provided to your car or truck. Most alternators last approximately 100,000 miles; however, it is important to review your maintenance manual, dealership, or service provider for additional details regarding alternator care.

      Value Is Correct

This was the most cost effective option available and, in my opinion, it performs just as well as any other. It mirrors the OEM alternator exactly, which made replacement easy enough for this first-timer to do it. It's been a month since installation and I haven't had any issues.

      Burned Bearings

      Joe

Well, we got about a year and a half out of it before the bearings started to fail. High pitch squeal and grinding, luckily was able to swap it out before it sized and burned up the serpentine belt.
