Works but it is a pain to get in and out

First and most important is plan on replacing the valve cover gasket when you do this alternator. The Zetec engines that these alternators go into use an ABS plastic valve cover that runs the gasket a few millimeters away from the heatshield on the exhaust, and that area is a bad leak spot and the areas where the cams come out is also a bad leak spot. If oil leaks from the valve cover gasket engine draft will blow it on the alternator and once the alternator is oil soaked the field coil will no longer work well resulting in the PCM jacking voltage output too high. The result will be weird behavior in gauges like the speedo, and the engine as the sensor outputs will get screwed up. Anyway, you need to remove the passenger engine mount then break the alternator bolts free, and then unbolt the dogbone engine mount and let the engine be held in by the transmission mount. Then manipulate the engine in the compartment with a floor jack in order to reach all bolts and in order to move the engine forward enough so you can reach up from under the engine and guide the alternator out the bottom, there is just barely enough room with the engine pushed all the way forward in the compartment and rocked a bit to get the alternator out of the bottom. The bolts take a long time to get out since they are friction held into the alternator mounts. DO NOT try prethreading! The mount is designed to squeeze on to a bracket. You will need to use a crowbar to dislodge the alternator once the bolts are out. Study the new alternator before doing this to understand how they designed it. During refurbishing and manufacture the mounts are pressed into the alternator casting then when you tighten the bolts the mounts slowly come out to squeeze on to the bracket.
