Honda Odyssey Alternator
Your vehicle's alternator maintains a steady power supply to the battery and electrical components while the engine is running. Over time, alternators can wear out and fail, typically requiring replacement after an average of eight years. However, some vehicles may experience issues earlier, leading to unexpected breakdowns. By replacing your Honda Odyssey alternator promptly, you can ensure a reliable and efficient electrical system. When you're installing a new alternator for your Honda Odyssey, select one with the specs your van needs to run right. Not sure of the fitment? That's where our friendly staff can help.

The alternator location on the Honda Odyssey is little tightly positioned, with removal of the mounting brackets for the power steering fluid and coolant reservoirs key to creating space for removal. For those not interested in dumping fluids, I’ll share that I was able to extract/install the alternator with the power steering and coolant lines still connected. Removal of the above brackets is the first step, then the lower portion of the coolant reservoir can be tucked into the bumper cavity. After moving the alternator over to the space below the reservoirs, the power steering reservoir can be pulled up and towards the drivers side, allowing enough space to pull the alternator out. It requires a little bit of juggling, but it’s doable. There are few negative reviews mentioning the "bushing" issue on the mounting bracket. This is not a problem with the new alternator itself, but an opportunity to follow the factory installation process, where the bushing on the bracket (on the engine) should be pressed or tapped outward to create space for the new alternator bracket. When the bolt is tightened back down on the alternator, that bushing is squeezed back into place for a clean fitment. You should not need to hammer or file down the bushing on the alternator itself.

My alternator went out on my 2011 Honda Odyssey (103k miles) on a family trip in June 2023. Made it to the nearest AutoZone, and they had this direct replacement in stock. Borrowed some tools from them and swapped out the alternator in the parking lot. This Duralast 11573 is working as it should and got us to our vacation destination and back home.
