2012 Hyundai Elantra Alternator
How to Replace a 2012 Hyundai Elantra Alternator
Start by disconnecting the battery, specifically by removing the negative battery terminal. The Elantra's alternator is mounted at the very front of the engine block, near the bumper, so it's easy to get to. Proceed by removing the electrical cables that lead to the alternator and then unbolting the 12mm bolt that secures the main harness. You'll then have to remove the serpentine belt by pushing the alternator slightly down to make room. Finally, finish unbolting the alternator and installing the new one.Alternate Year Models

Kudos to Autozone for one of the few places that keeps this part in stock and is easy to get at 6pm on a weekday. Everyone else needed to ship it from one of their warehouses. When you need a part, you need a part! That said, there's a sticker that says it was rebuilt in China - I'm guessing all of the other suppliers are very similar. There is a reason it's half the price as the OEM new. The original alternator lasted 7 years and 160k. I don't expect this one to last just as long, but a few years would be nice. Let's see if I remember that it has a lifetime warranty.
