About
Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Brake Pads
If there's one vehicle choice that's especially appropriate for adventurous spirits, it's definitely the Chevy Silverado 1500. Silverados are famous for being powerful, tough, and incredibly functional vehicles that suit a wide variety of drivers. They're affordable, versatile, and safe as well. However, maintaining and monitoring your Chevy Silverado over the course of its lifetime is an important part of making sure you continue to get the absolute most out of yours. This includes staying on top of ongoing brake maintenance.
The Role of Brake Pads
Even a vehicle that's only driven occasionally will likely require several sets of brake pads over the years. If you drive yours daily or under conditions that are more challenging than average, you may be in the market for brake pad replacement for Chevy Silverado 1500 more often than someone else. Your brake pads are the brake component that's actually responsible for slowing and ultimately stopping your vehicle. They do this by generating friction against your brake disc. The more friction a given set of pads is responsible for over time, the more quickly you can expect them to wear out and require replacement.
Knowing the Signs of Wear and Tear
When it comes to your brakes, there's no such thing as playing it too safe. If they're not functioning the way you think they should be, it's always best to err on the side of caution and bring your Silverado in for a once-over from your favorite mechanic. However, it's also a good idea to know what to watch for when it comes to signs it's time to find the right brake pads for your Chevy Silverado 1500. How have your brakes been functioning lately? Don't simply assume it's your imagination if you feel your stopping distances have become longer or your brake pedal no longer feels as firm as it used to when you step on it. Worrisome noises that make you wince apprehensively shouldn't be ignored either. Brakes that whine, whistle, scream, or squeak when activated may well be in need of a fresh set of pads sooner rather than later.

I have been doing brake jobs for the better part of 50 years and these brake pads were a breeze to install and after driving on them for 4 months I have no complaints. Very quiet.

A little rough during breakin

Installed on a Chevy Silverado 1500 and they were a little rough on hard stops. Gentle slow down was fine but if I had to really get on the brakes there was significant roughness in these pads that eventually went away after about 100 miles. Also, plan to have more caliper grease on hand. What is sent in the box is laughable.
