      About

      2009 Honda Accord Brake Pads

In the braking system, brake pads are responsible for using friction against the brake rotor to slow your car's speed, no matter how fast you're driving. There's no margin for mistakes with brakes, and your Honda Accord brake pads will wear out more than once in its life. Revitalizing your car's stopping power is a rather simple task in many cases, often needing just a new set of brake pads to get it working good as new. And where can you find the right brake parts for your car? AutoZone, of course.

      How Brake Pads Work

For disc brakes on your 2009 Honda Accord, brake pads and rotors are installed at each wheel assembly. By pressing the brake pedal, hydraulic pressure from the master cylinder forces a brake caliper to compress brake pads against both sides of the rotor. Friction material creates drag that slows the wheel's rotation, and the car comes to a stop.

The friction material can come in different forms, bonded to a steel backing plate. Low-cost replacements are often organic brake pads that are quiet and grip well but wear quickly. Semi-metallic brakes can offer improved stopping power and long life with a little more noise. Ceramic brake pads offer durability and resistance to brake fade along with quiet applications and are a common option for 2009 Accord brake pad replacement.

What Are Signs of Bad Brake Pads & Rotors?

There will be signs that your brakes need some attention in most situations. Noises like an obnoxious squeal or grinding sound are evidence your brakes aren't performing as they should. If you feel a vibration in the brake pedal or steering wheel, it can signal an issue with brake rotor warpage or corrosion. And if your car doesn't feel like it's handling safely– long stopping distances or pulling to one side when braking– it probably needs new brakes.

How much does it cost to replace brake pads on your 2009 Accord? It varies depending on the material and grade, but expect roughly $30 to $70 for a set.

Finding the Right Size Brake Pads

If you discover your brake pads need to be replaced, nothing but the right fit will do. At AutoZone, filter by year, make, model, and engine size to find the brake pads that work for your Accord from brands like Duralast. We have all the parts, fluids, tools, and accessories you could ever need, available for fast, Free In-Store or Curbside Pickup or Free Next-Day Delivery on eligible orders.

Good Pads for a Great Price

Replaced front factory pads with Duralast ceramic pads. My car now brakes much smoother, with more stopping power than before. The ceramic replacements also make less noise than the factory brakes. I haven’t had the ceramic replacements long enough to compare the durability with standard metallic pads, but from what I’ve researched, ceramic pads are also stated to be superior in durability. The ceramic pads cost a little more, but the improvements in performance, even if the durability is comparable to metallic, is definitely worth the slightly higher cost.
