Beware the "paint" on the pad area

These Gold rear rotors fit fine, way too soon to tell on how long they will endure being how poorly rear discs last. The "special" protective coating is all over the rotor, making it look great out of the box. However, we're the pads touch will almost immediately take off this coating. The brakes began pulsing within a few miles of installation, and upon close observation the paint stuff had melted and globbed on the rotor surface. Once this was scraped away with a putty knife all was well. Many manufacturers mask off the pad surface of the rotor before painting, this must have been a cost cutting measure!
