      Stuck open after one month

      Jeff

      in 3 years

Installed one month ago to the day. Put 2k miles on my 04 Jeep GC w/ 4.0 since then. Fired up the car this AM to go to work and the Jeep wont get past 140F. 60F outside. Throwing an engine code for "engine too cold for too long" as well. Worked fine yesterday when I drove home from work. Jeep hasn't moved off of 195F in a month and was not overheated. I let it cool back down, took rad cap off, started Jeep again and coolant is moving through radiator confirming thermo is stuck open. It gets 2 stars for not dying on a 1k mile vacation trip and leaving me stranded last week; but it is Junk and no one should buy it unless you're in a pinch. I bought a S.t.a.n.t 45359 (have to type it like this or review gets flagged) replacement I'll be putting in. Luckily a thermo change on these engines is cheap and easy. Better to be stuck open than closed I guess. Still, thermos shouldn't be failing after a month. The thermo I took out of the Jeep last month still worked and had the Chrysler logo on it indicating it was OEM. Jeep has 195k on it. ORiginal lasted 16 years and 195k. Motorad crap lasted 1 month and 2k miles. Install at your own risk

Had an overheat issue since this was installed. Coolant temp would always go between the 3/4 mark and the red mark before it would even open. After the initial "overheat" it would somewhat work but fluctuated horribly. Took out and replaced with a NAPA brand T-stat and couldn't be happier. I will never buy Auto Zone kunk again!!!!

I ordered this part online and it was quickly delivered and was very easy to install. After driving for 3 to 4 days, my CEL went away and all is good again. Very good product.
