Engine Overheated Idle Engine Meaning
If you see “engine overheated idle engine” on your car’s information display, pull over as soon as possible and let the engine idle. This reduces the amount of work the engine is doing, while letting the cooling system do as much as it can to lower the engine temperature.
Why is your engine overheating? If you have a GM 1.4l liter turbo, there’s a good chance one of the temperature sensors is corroded. This tells the ECU the engine is running hot, even though it’s fine. Other common causes are air in the coolant system, a failing water pump, leaking coolant hoses or a damaged radiator.
