The Chevy service battery charging system warning comes up when there’s a problem with your vehicle’s charging system. This is usually caused by one of these issues:
The connections between the alternator and battery are corroded.
The connections are loose, or one of the wires is broken.
The alternator isn’t making enough power to charge the battery.
The drive belt isn’t spinning the alternator. Either the belt is loose, or it’s broken.
