Slip Indicator Light Meaning
Slip control uses the traction control system to regain traction while driving on a slippery surface. Speed sensors tell the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) how fast each wheel is spinning. If the PCM detects a sudden jump in speed or that some wheels spinning faster than others, it reduces power to those wheels. This uses a combination of braking and throttle control. The slip indicator light will come on briefly when it’s working. If there is a failure at any point in this system, the indicator light will stay on. Common problems include bad wheel sensors, bad wiring, or a failing ABS control unit.
