Where is the spark plug located?
Spark plug locations vary from engine to engine. Each cylinder has at least one spark plug, while some engines use two plugs for every cylinder. Most new engines have coil-on-plug ignition systems. You should see what look like large plastic blocks on top of the valve cover. These are the coils. Pull out a coil, and youll find a plug underneath. Older vehicles have a distributor, which looks like a plastic cap with thick wires running out of it. These wires lead to the spark plugs. Overhead valve engines, like the Chevy small block V8, usually have spark plugs on the side of the head, next to the valve cover.
