AutoZone carries reliable Cooper Bussmann ATM fuses that set the standard for automotive electrical circuit protection. They use industry standard color coding, so you can easily find the amperage rating needed to do the job right.

Short circuits can put your car out of commission, but changing fuses is a quick job that any DIYer can do. First, locate the fuse box. It’s typically located near the instrument panel in the dashboard, under the hood near the battery, or under the rear seat. You can find the exact location and a diagram of which electrical systems are covered by which part of the box in your owner’s manual. Use needle nose pliers or a specialty tool to remove the old part and slide the new fuse into place. It’s important to ensure that both the old and new parts have the same amperage.

Fuses protect your vehicle’s electrical system by providing a spot where the circuit can break in the event of a short circuit without wrecking your ride. Consisting of two metal blades that connect to the vehicle’s electrical system which are connected by a wire, the fuse completes the circuit for electrical systems. Because the wire has a lower heat resistance than other components in the system, the wire melts and breaks at excessive temperatures, preventing damage to your vehicle’s other electrical components. This makes repairs easier, as the break in the circuit will always be in the same place.

If electrical problems have been a drag on your ride, swing by AutoZone, your one stop shop for any automotive fuses you need to get back on the road.
