Having a clean PCV valve and breather allows for trapped crankcase gases to be released from the crankcase and to be recirculated back into the engine. Having a dirty PCV valve and breather can cause rough engine idle, costly oil leaks. A PCV valve and breather should be replaced every 12 months or every 12,000 miles.
