Replacing timing sensor: 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Donald R. Dugan Sr

in a year

Needed to replace the Timing sensor under the intake manifold. The intake manifold is a hard plastic assembly and must be treated carefully. Detached all fuel injection plugs, as well as tubes and other electrical plugs. Removed the 10 bolts attaching the intake manifold. Lifted the intake manifold from the engine. Turned the manifold upside down to allow for gaskets and seals to be replaced, also simple to do so. Replaced all gaskets/seals. Replaced the timing sensor by removing the 1 bolt, and slowly rotating the assembly from the engine. Reinstalled the new sensor, and reinstalled the intake manifold.

This kit includes upper plenum gaskets and lower manifold gaskets. When changing spark plugs and/or coil packs you only need the lower manifold gaskets. The intake plenum has a few hidden bolts, take your time, there is a helpful youtube video. This is a DYI that isn't that difficult as the shops will make it seem.

Great product. Seals like it should. Be sure to remove intake plenum and clean area thoroughly to ensure intake gaskets get a proper bond.
