      Breathing Clearly

      My buddy has a workhorse 2019 Ford F450 Super Duty diesel dually he uses to pull heavy equipment back and forth locally and even over-the-road as far afield as Texas and Washington State and so on. I'd been doing regular oil changes for him every 7,000 miles (manual says every 10,000 but he works that truck too hard to stretch the oil changes out that long) but we'd never changed the factory air filter out. The F450 had a noticeable drop in power so we cracked the airbox and peeked at the filter; it was practically caked with dirt and had all kinds of dried leaves and dead bugs trapped in it! I suggested Auto Zone but at first he wanted to get it from the Ford dealer where he bought the truck. But the price they wanted was so high he grudgingly went with my suggestion that we get it at Auto Zone. We discovered it is a special order part for Auto Zone but it was delivered in just a couple days, it fit like factory original and we got it for around 65% less than what the Ford dealer was charging!

      THIS FILTER DOES NOT FIT IN THE STOCK AIR BOX

      This unit has plastic tabs along the edges that protrude just enough to keep the airbox from closing. We fought with it for a half hour, then returned the stock Toyota filter to the box and it closed without issue. The STP filter does not exactly resemble the photo, either. Pay extra - get an OEM filter from a Toyota dealer. I'd return this one, but it was part of a package deal for oil, filters, etc.
