Chevrolet Traverse Oil Filter

Your Chevy Traverse uses the oil filter to remove particles from the engine oil as the engine is running. Inside the oil filter, there is a membrane that strains out the particles so that they do not circulate back into the engine. As you can imagine, the membrane will eventually become clogged with contaminants and will need to be replaced, and oil filters are readily available at AutoZone all the time.

Because your oil also has a service life, the best practice is to change your oil filter at the same time as your oil change. In the past, many mechanics recommended an oil change interval of 3,000 to 5,000 miles, but modern vehicles often have a longer recommended oil change interval, so check your owner's manual.
