      Dodge Dakota Oil Filter

A Dodge Dakota uses an internal combustion engine that is protected by motor oil during everyday driving conditions. The oil is added to all the moving parts in the engine to keep everything protected. To extend the life of your oil, the truck has an oil filter that must be replaced regularly. AutoZone offers the right fit of Dodge Dakota oil filters based on the year, make, model, and engine size of your truck.

How to Replace Your Dodge Dakota Oil Filter

With your new Dakota oil filter ready, you must install it on your truck to get its benefits. Raise your truck off the ground using ramps or jack stands. Set a drain pan under the oil pan drain bolt and unscrew the bolt using a wrench. Allow the oil to drain out before replacing the oil drain plug. Unscrew the oil filter using a filter wrench and tighten its replacement using just your hand to create a snug fit. Finish the replacement by opening your truck's hood and adding the recommended amount and type of motor oil to the vehicle through the oil filler neck.

When to Change Your Oil Filter

Oil filters should be changed at every oil change. Since oil changes are recommended once every 3,000 to 5,000 miles, it's best to change the filter at this interval as well. AutoZone gets you access to the right Dakota replacement parts for your next needs, and eligible parts come with Same-Day In-Store or Curbside Pickup or Free Next-Day Delivery to your house.

An easy fit and filters oil

I was originally going to use this as a sacrificial oil filter after replacing the head and timing cover gasket (coolant leaked into the oil pan during disassembly). However, the filtering capacity and anti-drain back valve match my previous Amsoil filter, so I'll keep using it until my next oil service.
