Kia Sportage Oil Filter

Engine oil gets dirty with use, and it's the engine oil filter in your Kia Sportage that filters out particles that could otherwise damage the engine. If your oil is dark or the oil change reminder is going off, it's probably a good time to replace both the oil and the filter. Fortunately, it's an inexpensive part and can be changed by any DIYer, and AutoZone has Kia Sportage oil filters in stock from brands you trust.

An oil change typically takes around a half an hour, and that includes the time it takes to replace the oil filter on your Sportage. It's a spin-on filter, so you'll need an oil filter wrench to remove it. With the front end on jack stands, drain the old engine oil into a drain pan, then use the filter wrench to turn the old filter counter-clockwise to remove it. A dab of oil on the new filter's gasket helps it go on smoothly, and turn it on hand-tight.

    About Kia Sportage Oil Filter

How Often Should You Change Your Oil Filter?

It's recommended to install a new oil filter any time you change the oil in the engine. If you use conventional oil, that typically means around 3,000 to 5,000 miles while if you use synthetic engine oil, it's between 7,500 and 10,000 miles. Since it's only a small cost, there's no reason not to do this simple maintenance item.
