      Not that bad a job

      Randy

      in 24 days

Product fit perfectly and was much less expensive than getting them from a shop. I'm handy but it was the first time I attempted a job like this. I watch a few youtube videos on how to do the project and also reviewed some forum posts on problem. Have a small sledge hammer handy for the bottom bolt or air tools (chisel... I didn't have air tools). Also have a ratchet (strap) clamp handy and potentially a metal cutting blade in a reciprocating saw. What took the longest was POUNDING out the bottom bolt. Take the time to spray it liberally with something like PB Blaster and letting it sit. Hammer it.. HARD.. and spray it again. Do this over and over. It takes TIME and HARD hits. Make sure your jacks are stable! I got the bolt to move on one but couldn't get it out, so I cut one arm on the strut in order to remove it then pounded out the bolt on the ground. The other side did come out, but again, lots of hard hitting with the sledge. I then re-ground the bolts with a grinder since I had mushroomed the bolt ends. Still, it all worked well and the new struts went right in. On one side I had to use the strap clamp to pull all the pieces back together and get them bolted into place... but that was not a strut issue. The struts have been working great!

These shocks are incredible. My truck feels like a whole new vehicle. They are firm but comfortable and the truck handles much better now.

I've been using Duralast shocks for a while now and they perform well. I swapped a pair of load leveler shocks on my Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 with these MS34-31342B MonoTube shocks and noticed increased handling ability.
