Removal & Installation



2.4L Engine
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
    2.  
  2. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Air cleaner
     
    Starter wiring
     
    Starter
     

    3.  
  3. Installation is the reverse of removal. Torque the starter bolts to 29 ft. lbs. (39 Nm).

  1. Remove the battery.
    2.  
  2. Remove the battery tray.
    3.  
  3. Disconnect the starter wiring.
    4.  
  4. Remove the mounting bolts.
    5.  
  5. Lift out the starter.
    6.  
  6. Installation is the reverse of removal. Torque the mounting bolts to 27 ft. lbs. (37 Nm).

3.0L Engine
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
    2.  
  2. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Battery
     
    Air cleaner
     
    Starter
     

    3.  
  3. Installation is the reverse of removal. Torque the starter bolts to 31 ft. lbs. (42 Nm).

3.3L Engine
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
    2.  
  2. Remove the battery.
    3.  
  3. Remove the battery tray.
    4.  
  4. Remove the wiring from the starter.
    5.  
  5. Remove the 2 bolts and lower the starter.
    6.  
  6. Installation is the reverse of removal. Torque the starter bolts to 27 ft. lbs. (37 Nm).
