Mirror Adhesive Holds Fast for Safe Driving
A rearview mirror is a critical safety feature on any vehicle. You can choose from the best mirror adhesives for cars and trucks when you shop at AutoZone. Purchase a complete rear view remount kit for GM, Ford or Chrysler vehicles or universal rearview adhesives by Permatex.

Adhesive Failure
Most automakers affix a rear view mirror to a windshield with a simple glue joint. Adhesive can wear out over time or fail due to exposure to high heat or moisture. It is important to reattach a rear view mirror using automotive-strength adhesive. When you shop for mirror adhesives near me, you can trust that the stock at AutoZone is fresh and full strength.

OEM Approved
Permatex makes OEM approved kits that contain two-part adhesive that seals and delivers handling strength within seconds and can support a mounted mirror in just half an hour. The extreme strength version relies on a towelette and pipette adhesive and activator for a more accurate and less messy application. These kits are designed for use with metal mounting buttons and are not intended for use with plastic mounts.

Mirror Removal
Remove the metal button from the mirror assembly. It may be necessary to remove trim and disconnect electronics such as electrochromic dimmers, compasses or lights. A screwdriver can be useful for releasing the latch that connects the button to the mirror. The rear view mirror in an older vehicle may attach directly to the windshield.

Button Position
It will be helpful to indicate which side of the button should be mounted upward to ensure that you do not reattach the button upside down. Do not mark the side that faces the glass, as this surface should be stripped to bare metal to achieve a better hold. You should also indicate the position of the button on the windshield exterior with tape or a removable writing utensil such as a grease pencil.

Adhesive Removal
Remove every trace of adhesive from the metal button connector and use a razor blade to scrape off any adhesive that remains on the windshield. Clean the button and glass with solvent or apply the cleaner and primer included in some mirror adhesive kits. Make sure that the vehicle is parked in a location with temperatures between 50 and 75 degrees Fahrenheit, such as a climate-controlled garage or shaded parking space.

Adhesive Application
Apply adhesive to the button and press it onto the glass in the desired location. Hold the button in place for the amount of time specified in the mirror adhesive instructions. You should also wait at least as long as specified before reinstalling the mirror.

Low Prices
Find the lowest prices on mirror adhesives when you shop online or in-store at AutoZone. You may want to buy a kit that comes with adapters for your vehicle make or select a universal adhesive kit.
