Dodge Ram 1500 Shocks and Struts

The shocks act as a cushioning mechanism for the suspension system, absorbing harsh impacts and reducing shocks. In essence, they take the brunt of the road impact and prevent it from getting sent to other systems such as the steering system. As they age, shocks wear out and need to be replaced. If you're looking for new shocks for Dodge Ram 1500, you can find tons of options at AutoZone.

When to Replace Your Shocks and Struts

Although there's no set limit, shocks usually need to be changed anywhere between 50,000 and 80,000 miles. If you frequent terrible roads or drive more aggressively, you'll need to change your shocks sooner. Likewise, if the roads in your area are smooth, you might get away with changing your shocks less frequently.

Top Shocks for a Dodge Ram 1500

When buying new shocks, you can purchase either Twin-tube or monotube shocks. Twin-tube shocks are slightly more affordable than monotube shocks, but monotube shocks perform slightly better. That's not to say twin-tube options are bad, just that others offer better damping and a more comfortable ride quality.

If you need shocks or struts for your Ram 1500, AutoZone has you covered. You can sort available options by year, make, model, and engine size. Opt for Free Next-Day Delivery to have your order delivered to your address, or pick Same-Day In-Store or Curbside Pickup for in-person pickup.

      Not that bad a job

Product fit perfectly and was much less expensive than getting them from a shop. I'm handy but it was the first time I attempted a job like this. I watch a few youtube videos on how to do the project and also reviewed some forum posts on problem. Have a small sledge hammer handy for the bottom bolt or air tools (chisel... I didn't have air tools). Also have a ratchet (strap) clamp handy and potentially a metal cutting blade in a reciprocating saw. What took the longest was POUNDING out the bottom bolt. Take the time to spray it liberally with something like PB Blaster and letting it sit. Hammer it.. HARD.. and spray it again. Do this over and over. It takes TIME and HARD hits. Make sure your jacks are stable! I got the bolt to move on one but couldn't get it out, so I cut one arm on the strut in order to remove it then pounded out the bolt on the ground. The other side did come out, but again, lots of hard hitting with the sledge. I then re-ground the bolts with a grinder since I had mushroomed the bolt ends. Still, it all worked well and the new struts went right in. On one side I had to use the strap clamp to pull all the pieces back together and get them bolted into place... but that was not a strut issue. The struts have been working great!

These shocks are incredible. My truck feels like a whole new vehicle. They are firm but comfortable and the truck handles much better now.

      Reputable Quality

I've been using Duralast shocks for a while now and they perform well. I swapped a pair of load leveler shocks on my Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 with these MS34-31342B MonoTube shocks and noticed increased handling ability.
