About

2001 Dodge Ram 1500 Shocks and Struts

Shock absorbers are parts of your vehicle's suspension system that absorb forces from the road and keep the vehicle stable. If your shocks fail, it will result in an uncomfortable ride and risk your safety. If your 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 shocks are due for replacement, you should have them changed as soon as possible. You can find plenty of options across different performance levels and budgets at AutoZone.

When to Replace Your Shocks and Struts

It's impossible to say exactly how often you should change your 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 shocks as that depends on how they are used. If you're using your Ram 1500 to carry heavy loads around on broken roads, the suspension will wear out quicker than on a car used predominantly on the well-paved tarmac. A rule of thumb is to have the shocks checked at least once a year to assess their state. Faulty suspension components can also result in symptoms like excessive body roll, poor bump absorption, and unsteady handling.

Top Shocks For a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500

AutoZone has hundreds of replacement shocks and struts, with delivery options like Free Next-Day Delivery on eligible orders and Same-Day In-Store or Curbside Pickup. To narrow down on parts that are just compatible with your truck, enter your year, make, model, and engine size and see suitable parts. From cost-effective options like SenSen and Duralast to more performance-oriented names like Bilstein and Sachs, there are multiple options available at AutoZone.

I thought I would do the rear shocks first since they looked to be difficult. Little did I know when I started that the rear shocks were a stroll in the park compared to the front shocks! The impact was just spinning the front shock so you had to hold the center piston with a small wrench and turn the nut with an open end wrench! A thousand turns later and i had the bolt off! The upper shock mount had to come off on the drivers side because the master cylinder is in the way! It was no doubt a day of bonding with my truck because that's how long it took to get the front shocks off!!! Thanks Dodge for making this an all day affair!!! By the way, I am a cancer patient so it meant several mini breaks just to catch my breath!!! The new shocks were just great and the ride is now smooth!!!
