This part solved the problem with our F53 RV’s brake lights. I had thought the problem was with the bulbs but after I got all bulbs working it was worse. The only problem with this part was that replacement instructions were hard to find. Incidentally, the old part seemed to work properly when I tested it, but it didn’t really work properly when in actual use.

It's actually easy to get this thing put on 90 degrees off, and it won't work right. Make sure when you put it on, the pushrod end is pointing right at the button. \r\nIt's a pain to change since you have to reach up under the dash and do everything by feel. \r\nIt's fairly easy to change all in all once you get a feel for everything.

  • Fixed my brake light problem but created another..
    DAVID - 2 months ago

My brake lights quit working and found the problem to be the brake light switch. \nI installed this one from AutoZone and it did fix my issue with the brake lights but created another. When using the cruise control if the road is a little bumpy it will shake the brake pedal enough it will cancel the cruise control.\nMy truck is a one ton 4X4 solid front axle and it rides like a tank so this is an inconvenience.\nMy old switch did not do this when the brake light portion of the switch quit the CC still worked fine. I should have exchanged this when I first noticed it and qualified for free exchange. On the fence now if I should replace with OEM next...

I hoped it would work because it's a decent price and lifetime warranty. It fixed the brake lights, but like so many other reviews I've read for non-OEM replacements for this part, my cruise control and auto locks stopped working. Returned and got the Motorcraft part, which worked perfectly.
