The engine coolant temperature sensor is located anywhere within the engine cooling system and contains a thermistor that changes in resistance value as the thermistors ambient temperature changes. The engine coolant temperature sensor is a primary input to the engine computer for fuel injection pulse width, ignition timing, and other primary system operating control features.
