P0305 Code
Tom S.1 year agoVerified PurchaseRecommendedSweepstakes EntrySo far so good. Had a code p0305 come up for a cylinder 5 misfire. I had recently done plugs and wires just a few months before so that should not have been the issue. But still I tried a spare wire and there was no change. I swapped spark plugs around to see if maybe my plug went bad. This did make the problem go away but the plug that came out of cylinder #5 had some darker colored fouling on it so I think it had been getting weak and decided to replace the coil. I found out this isn't like the GM vehicles from the 90s where 2 coils were made together and can be swapped out and interchangeable. This coil is one unit and for all 6 cylinders. Price is good for what you're getting. On my vehicle this was a pain to replace though. One of the 4 screws that hold it down you absolutely could not get to so I proceeded to remove the bracket. Once again, one screw is pretty much impossible to get out. I suppose it is possible and I don't give up easily, but I ended up removing the entire plenum to swap this sucker out. No wonder why no one had any YouTube videos on this for my vehicle or the sister vehicles for that matter. Chevy Uplander, Buick Terraza, Pontiac Montana, or my vehicle, the Saturn Relay. Just glad it's fixed now. With a cylinder misfire unburnt fuel from that cylinder ends up going through the catalytic converter which can prematurely burn it out.
