Review Summary
The automotive paints and clear coats generally provide good coverage and a smooth, glossy finish when properly applied. The clear coat can be wet sanded and buffed to a high shine. However, some users have experienced issues with the clear coat not drying as hard as expected or having a brown tint. There are also reports of the paint not atomizing properly or causing adhesion problems. While the products work well for many DIY and hobbyist painters, the quality can be inconsistent, and some recommend using a higher-end 2K clear coat system for better long-term durability.

Hard to stir up
Jesse3 months agoVerified PurchaseRecommendedI used dupli-color primer, paint, and clear coat to do the project I was working on. I had “paint ready” steel that I prepped by sanding with 220 grit paper on an orbital sander. Afterwards I washed with dawn dish soap and warm water. Dried it and wiped it down with acetone. I followed the recommended steps for primer, color, and clear listed on the container. I used a harbor freight spray gun, since I’m just doing this for a dirt track race car it was good enough for me. Not a show car so not super worried about final result. It came out WAY better than I ever imagined. Easy to spray, super clean, no drips or hiccups. Two things that bothered me during the project - both the primer and the color had about an inch of gunk sitting at the bottom of the containers, it was pretty challenging to get them mixed properly. The clear coat did not have that issue. Second thing that bothered me was the “championship white” color I chose wasn’t as glossy as I’d thought even after clear coat. It seemed more flat than anything. But overall a good paint system to use. 8/10 recommended, just make sure you are aware of the final color and plan to stir for two hours to get the right mixture.Purchased for: 1978 Chevrolet CamaroHelpful?
