Dale Joy1 year agoVerified PurchaseSweepstakes EntryI was sold an inoperative starter initially from AutoZone to which I had to pay additional money to the mechanic shop to have the defective part removed that I bought from Auto Zone and had to have another one reinstalled.... A very costly price in time and money for being sold a defective part by AutoZone...

Starter replacement 1999 300M Chrysler
Member 41076483610 years agoThis starter may fit other vehicles but for the 1999 300 M you must have experience working with these models, there is very limited room to work. The space is very tight, removing main positive cable is 'blind" there is a second wire that is a plug that can be damaged if you are not experienced. The way it is released is top of clip you slide a pic into top of clip gently as if you were sliding it inside with plug then as you slide it in gently pull plug it will release. any other with damage plug. the remove starter you have to lift motor by releasing the 3 motor mount bolts on engine block easy to access. #15 mm lift motor just enough to slide starter back and down. the install has a shim plate that only goes in one way < make sure you have it lined up. once you have starter back in place slide plate into place insert starter make sure you start sit's flush with out bolts in if it rocks at all it is the plate << not sitting flat has to slide between bell housing and engine. do not force anything. This job is for a patient experienced mechanic.
