Make sure they don't give you someone elses return
Jay3 days agoNot very happy with this purchase at all. The time and efforts to completely do the waterpump on thes 5.9s have a very narrow work area. I should have known to accept this already opened box pertaining the water pump and fan clutch. I always look for already used parts due to auto stores place them right back on the shelf in some instances. Thank God this is warranted. The first red flag was seeing scuff marks on the pulley to the pump. Yet I went against my own judgemental and did the pump. Just to find out this thing squeeeeeeeeeks like no other as if the bearings are already shot. I do not suggest anyone to buy this specific pump unless it's in a closed box and all contents are in its original seals and plastics.

Pump ok but leave time to straighten out gasket.
KenW1 year agoSweepstakes EntryGasket was folded up inside the box. Made it impossible to use. It re-folded up under the pump during the installation and I had to start over and buy a new gasket. new gasket came with a cardboard backing which kept it straight and un-creased. Recommend putting gasket between two books for a day or so before repair.

roaring fan
Darryl4 years agoI have bought 2 fan clutches for my Dakota 3.9 and they both roar like an airplane when the engine is cold and start to drive. Lasts about 30 seconds. The clutch should not engage the fan since it is cold. Poor quality.

Viscous fan clutch is defective
The Dude5 years agoVerified PurchaseRecommendedThe water pump appears to be working fine. The gasket is working equally as well. What is not working properly is the viscous fan clutch. It is fully engaged at cold start and appears to remain engaged much more than it should during normal operation. Will be seeking a replacement. I have never replaced a viscous fan clutch, so I do not know if this is a common occurrence. I know the OE device must remain vertical, else the fluids mix an, cause operation issues like this, and prematurely fail the device.
