The Brake Pedal Position sensor is similar to the Stop Light Switch but is a more critical sensor input to the vehicle stability system. The vehicle stability control module requires the exact location of the brake pedal during a vehicle skid so that a controlled brake pressure may be applied to each individual wheel in an attempt to straighten the vehicle position out and back into control.
